Online digital creations, whether they are advertising banners, digital literature or digital art, often rely on gestual manipulations from the reader (for instance to move an element on screen, to activate a link, to enter text with the keyboard). However, we lack tools to analyze the role of these gestual manipulations in the building of meaning, notably semotic and semio-rhetoric tools. In this paper, we propose a five-level analysis model. This model points out semiotic manipulation unitsand media couplings. Theses couplings make up figures that we call figures of manipulation.
