Remain Calm
Remain Calm is a rewrite of the text "Remaining Calm" by Alvaro García de Zúñiga (1958-2014), conceived in response to an invitation to the event "A.G.Z. small explosions," which involved "intertwined operations of scribwriting." In dialogue with a specifically trained GPT-4, thousands of danger warnings were generated, inspired by A.G.Z.'s proposals, to which an equal number of sound descriptors (captions) were added. The work is presented in three versions: in one, a combination of a danger warning, a caption, and a sound from a specially created sound effects database is randomly generated; in the second, the combination of warning and caption is inserted into a PDF (saved in the user's Downloads folder), which is formatted to imitate the style of danger signs; the third version uses poemario.js to dynamically generate random combinations of warnings and captions on a word-by-word basis. This work includes translations of "Remain vigilant in the seven seconds before disappearing," by Sandra Guerreiro Dias, also based on the text by Zúñiga.
